would be great if I could pair the camera to my phone so I could purchase without the monitor – would cut the price substantially for an item that I rarely use

I have 4 of those and like it a lot but have some issues.
    1) The camera show objects much further (smaller) than it is. I want to see what's behind me when backing up. If more than one car length or a small kid, need to pay attention. The wide angle camera helpful seeing cars approaching from the sides except more restricted on the truck (where it needed the most) with the license plate recessed in the bumper.
    2) 1 of the 4 backups need recharging and ironically its the one parked outside with plenty of sun hitting the license plate.
    3) For some reason it automatically turn itself off. Need to disconnect and reconnect the 12V power to turn it back on.
    4) The rubber windshields suction won't attached to the glass anymore then the gooseneck broke. That was replaced under warranty.
    5) The dash mounting double sided sticker delaminated from the heat. Need to call in see if I could get a replacement.
    6) Useless in the rain, couldn't see what's behind, where it needed the most. I think all other cameras will do this.

Whit that said I would buy again, Costo has a newer one with a larger battery.

I purchased at Costco. Followed instructions explicitly. I did exactly what this video shows. It does NOT work. After charging for hours, screen flashes TypeS when plugged into charger. The screen never shows a "home screen" or functions in any way except to flash TypeS when the charger is connected.

SO WAIT! Are you telling me that I need to charge my camera each time before use? This is a non starter. So I have to run a cable from my car which is mostly parked across the street for how long to charge my camera? This should have come with wiring instruction to static power from the vehicle.

I have a 2006 crv and the license plate in the rear is not centered. It is on the left of the spare tire. Will this work for it ?

Bought this item yesterday. I needed a front camera for my F150 since it is hard seeing over the hood when parking in tight spots.
