I finally got it to work with the security system – had to put a memory
card in first. But then the output to the security system came through
as a picture in the top 2/3rds and crazy black lines in the bottom
third. Any help?

Hi, how long does the camera last?
For anyone wanting to record while charging, purchase a Nikon 5 volt charger. It will work every time. If you want it to only charge, take out the SD card and it will charge only.
If you plug it in the charger with an SD card inserted, it automatically starts recording. A 32gb SD card will record for about 4 hours and then loop and record another 4 hours. You can also buy a wall timer and set it to come on at a certain time and it will start recording at that time and stop when the timer stops.
This can also be used as a web cam by simply taking out the SD card and plugging it into your computer. Go to " camera" on your computer and it will already be showing on the screen.
I honestly think I got ripped off. Mine is made of plastic but looks identical. It is not consistent.
This thing is very inconsistent. It suppose to record while charging, which sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. I do exactly what the directions say. Sometimes it records other times it just blinks a red light.
the photo is up-scaled from from 2MPx to 12MPx. Real resolution of the camera is 1008×756. So 1080p is probably also upscaled. You can do that in far better quality on the PC.
