The remakes just keep on coming with Mirrors (with $30.7 million). Director Alexandre Aja had great success with his previous films High Tension (2003) and the remake The Hills Have Eyes (2006), but audiences just couldn’t get pass the films’ origins in order to give this film a chance. Not even the star power of Jack Bower (aka Kiefer Sutherland) could save this film. Maybe next time.
At No. 13 is our first remake of an Asian film Shutter (with $25.9 million) which managed to just barely carve out an audience but the halcyon days of The Ring (2002) and The Grudge (2004) are gone and this film was just a little too late to capture the magic of its predecessors.
