This is the original American Rock and Roll that came back from obscurity, after British groups like the Rolling Stones, the Pretty Things, and the Spencer Davis Group, amongst others, who had been brought up on it, revived it in their own style. This sure makes the soft sounds of Brian Hyland, Jimmy Clanton, Bobby Vinton, Bobby Rydell etc sound very tame indeed !
